Microdermabrasion in Charlotte, NC
The Refine Institute offers microdermabrasion to the residents of Charlotte, Concord, and the surrounding communities in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Collagen is an important part of having healthy, glowing, youthful skin, but this vital natural protein is lost as a result of age, sun exposure, and certain lifestyle choices, such as smoking. Because collagen adds volume to your skin, as you lose it your skin starts to develop fine lines, wrinkles, and creases. Another part of maintaining beautiful skin is removing dead skin cells that make your skin look dull. Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that promotes new skin growth by removing the outer layer of skin, known as the epidermis. The procedure has also been shown to thicken collagen, which gives you a younger-looking complexion. Microdermabrasion is also an effective treatment for correcting light scars, discoloration, sun damage, and certain stretch marks.
During your microdermabrasion procedure, a special tool is used to remove the outermost layer of skin. The tip of the tool is covered with a very fine abrasive material that “scrubs” your skin and loosens the cells, similar to an exfoliation treatment. The dead skin cells are then removed with a suction device. Your treatment lasts approximately 30 minutes, and you may experience a mild scratching sensation as the microdermabrasion removes the dead skin. The device also massages your face, which many of our patients find relaxing.
After your microdermabrasion treatment, your skin is free of age spots, black heads, and areas of uneven pigmentation. You will notice that your fine lines and wrinkles are reduced. Your initial treatment plan may recommend two treatments during the first month and then one treatment in the following months. To maintain your fresh, new skin, a special moisturizer is provided after each treatment.
Microdermabrasion is an excellent non-surgical option for men and women who want to make subtle improvements to the tone, volume, and texture of their skin.
