Liposuction – Invasive vs. Non-Invasive in Charlotte, NC

Traditional liposuction involves the use of a special suction tube to remove unwanted fatty deposits from the treatment area. Advances in laser technologies (SmartLipo®) for cosmetic procedures have brought improvements in the method used for “melting” and removing the fat. Both of these techniques are considered invasive because incisions are made in the treatment area, and most patients need some type of anesthesia for the discomfort. Recovery involves limiting activities and managing discomfort, bruising, and swelling.

Currently, more and more “non-invasive” liposuction treatments are becoming widely available. The advantages of these treatments are that you have little to no recovery time, and incisions and anesthesia are not required. For these procedures, laser or radio frequency energy is administered from the surface of the skin that targets the fatty deposits. The fat is destroyed and naturally absorbed by your body. In most cases, there is no downtime or restrictions to your activities.
