Large breasts can be debilitating, especially if they are disproportionate to your body frame. In addition to poor self-esteem, they can cause a variety of symptoms, including neck, back, and shoulder pain; headaches; and irritation or infections of the skin underneath the breasts. Clinical studies have consistently shown that breast reduction surgery relieves these physical symptoms. Breast reduction surgery removes excess breast tissue and skin. While there are many different approaches to this surgery, we will discuss the option that works best for you.

The Breast Reduction Procedure
The process of breast reduction involves the surgical removal of the layer of fat tissue around the breast. The open skin around the area is then placed back into position and stitched together. Oversized breasts are known to cause a lot of health and medical problems that include, but are not limited to, shoulder pain, neck pain and back pain. These aches and pains are a direct result of a permanent crouching posture, which women adopt when they are very uncomfortable with their body and feel uneasy about the size of the breasts. Abnormally large breasts make women feel extremely vulnerable and draw a lot of unwanted attention. In addition, they are harmful for body posture and gait.
Recovery from breast reduction surgery is essentially identical to recovery from a mastopexy, with the exception that your previous symptoms such as neck and back pain will be gone. After surgery, you will be bruised, swollen, and tender for several days. Your discomfort should be controllable with oral medication, and you should be back to work in a week or so. Due to swelling, it will take several weeks to assess the final size and shape of your breasts.
