IPL® Photofacial in Charlotte, NC

The Refine Institute offers IPL® photofacial to the residents of Charlotte, Concord, and the surrounding communities in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Fine lines, wrinkles, and deep creases are not the only skin problems that affect your appearance. Chronic redness, sun damage, uneven pigmentation, and pore size also make your skin look aged, making you look tired and unhappy. Advances in laser technology have brought new techniques to cosmetic surgery that now offers you an alternative to traditional procedures.

IPL®, or intense pulsed light, uses intense energy to correct skin issues without damage your skin. The energy travels deep into your skin where redness, pigmentation, and pore size begin. The IPL® photofacial from the Refine Institute treats the small, red veins on your face as well as acne, rosacea, uneven pigmentation, and sun spots, all while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. IPL® photofacials may not be recommended for patients with dark complexions or tanned skin, including those who use sunless tanners or who recently tanned.

IPL® photofacials are effective for treating your face, neck, and hands. Typically, the treatment requires three to four sessions for best results, and the sessions are scheduled at three- to four-week intervals. Your treatment session lasts 30 to 40 minutes and begins with a cooling gel being applied to the treatment area. You may experience a mild sensation that is similar to a rubber band snapping against your skin as the IPL® is applied to your skin. Most patients do not require local anesthesia and are able to remain comfortable during the procedure. You begin to see gradual results after one or two treatments.

Recovery Info

You may return to your normal activities immediately after your IPL® photofacial. You may have redness that is similar to a mild sunburn, which should resolve within a few days. Men who undergo IPL® photofacials may experience facial hair loss in some areas after undergoing the IPL® photofacial.
